Mission planning for linear construction

Linear projects – roads, railroads, pipelines – require data continuity along a long and narrow area.

Parameters:

  • Raid route: corridor parallel to the project
  • Altitude: 80-120 m AGL
  • Coverage: 80% lengthwise, 70% crosswise
  • Segmentation: sections of 1-2 km
  • GCP: evenly distributed along the route
  • Camera: vertically downward

Typical mistakes:
too narrow airstrip, too high a flight, no segmentation, too few flights.

Mission planning for 3D building/roof model

Building/roof models require high detail and angled images,
to capture all the details.

  • Altitude: 20-40 m AGL (1-2 cm GSD).
  • Mode: grid + angled orbital flight.
  • Coverage: min. 80% forward and 80% sideways.
  • Oblique photos: From different angles to capture edges, chimneys and installations.
  • Lighting: Even, without harsh shadows.
  • Camera: Angled to reproduce as much detail as possible

Mistakes to avoid:
overhead shots only, flight ceiling too high, no angled flight, little coverage between shots
